Motorcycle Repair: Oil Capacity for 1982 Honda Magna 750, honda magna 750, 1982 honda magna

Question
I just bought a 1982 Honda Magna 750. I'm ordering the manual, but it's not
here yet. What is the oil capacity? and what viscocity should I use???

Answer
Roy,
They usually take about 2.4 us quarts or 2.6 litres.
I would suggest adding 2 quarts and then
run the bike for half minute or so. Then
set the bike level and add oil until
it reads full on the dipstick.
Use a good quality motorcycle oil 10w30 viscosity
or 10w40 is good too.
Don't use heavier weight oils as they just take
longer to begin circulating and that's
where most wear comes from when starting engines.
Also, most "energy saving" car oils have too
many friction additives not good for motorcycle
clutches which run in oil.
If you have to run car oil, use SF or SG ratings.
Later ratings are "energy" saving oils.
