Motorcycle Repair: Engine/Tranny Alignment, sprocket, engine transmission

Question
I have an Ultima Wide Tire Frame with an SS 113 CI engine. It has a 1/2" offset at the front of the inner primary. My question is about how I make sure that the engine, transmission and rear wheel are all in alignment & perpendicular to the frame?

Answer
First thing you have to do is align the trans to the rear wheel, so it is centered. To center the rear wheel I use a string running down the backbone of the frame to the center of the tire to align it. Once you have the wheel centered and the trans aligned to the wheel, now you align the motor sprocket to the trans. the motor sprocket should be square to the sprocket on the clutch hub.
Good luck and happy riding
