Motorcycle Repair: surge tank removal, kawasaki vulcan 750, 1995 kawasaki vulcan 750

Question
I have a 1995 Kawasaki Vulcan 750. I recently had problems with it and I think I narrowed it down to the carbs. I'd like to tear into the carbs to see how they look. I took the fuel tank off but I can't seem to figure out how to get the surge tank off which is in the way to access the carbs. If you can help me at all I would greatly appreciate it!

Answer
Brett,

slip the spring bands off the surge tank ducts
and remove the mounting bolts below. Pull
the tank to the rear to make better access to
the carbs. You will have to remove the throttle cables
etc as well, to remove the carbs.

Follow-up:
a few different parts have used the name "surge tank"
on bikes. If you were referring to the one
above the front engine head, it has no bolts
and is held in by the tubes attached to it.
You may be able to remove the front
head cover for more access space to carbs.
