Motorcycle Repair: 1981 Honda, electronic ignition modules, honda custom

Question
I am looking into purchasing my neighbor's 1981 Honda Custom 400. I have no mechanical experience with cars or bikes, and the guy told me "it doesn't run, both carbrueators need to be rebuilt." There is some other trivial work that needs doing, I think. Stuff like wire replacement and replacing some rusted small parts, saddle stitching, etc. The two things I want to know - are parts available for this type of bike for reasonable prices, and is the bike potentially worth the purchase (assuming this is all thats currently wrong) for $200-$250? Thanks a bunch!

Answer
Miles,
the price sounds good, if it only needs minor
repairs. When you buy something not running
you take your chances. Most parts are available
but Honda doesn't officially support bikes
this old. About ten years old is the limit.
Aftermarket dealers online like bikebandit
have alot of parts listed. The only part
that costs more than the bike is the CDI or
electronic ignition modules, they run $365.00
If it needs one of those it is basically only
good for parts. You could see if it has spark,
then maybe it is okay.
