Motorcycle Repair: Harley Transmission Clunk, clutch adjustment, baker dd6

Question
Loud clunk, especially after warmed up, when shifting through all gears.  2005 FLHTCUI, I bought the bike new and dealer has been of no help, just saying its normal for harley tranny's.  Bike now has 18,000 miles on it. I use BelRay 85-140 in tranny and Mobile 1 for V-twins in primary.  These are the best combo's, but not right.  My last bike was a 2000 FLHTCUI that I put 46K miles on and it didn't have this heavy clunk all the time.  I installed a Hayden M6 primary adjuster but it didn't help either.  The tranny almost sounds loose during shifts.  I am running clutch adjustment at 1/2 turn.  I hate to feel that I have to go to a Baker DD6 in order to get the noise out of a $21,000 bike.  Any aftermarket tranny's that you recomend?  Thank you for your time, any help you can give is greatley appreciated.  I can't live with this noise.  If it can not be fixed I will just sell the bike at a loss and buy a different brand next time

Answer
I have used Bakers for years, due to the fact I think they are the best on the market.
Your clutch adjustment is a little to much. Should be about 1/8 turn out at the clutch and 1/8 inch play in the clutch lever.
I would first try different oil in the tranny and see if that doesnt help.
Good luck and happy riding
