Motorcycle Repair: same problem, spark plug cable, spark plug wire

i just read your answer about the sooty front cylinder plug and the normal rear. You said to test the ohms in the wires and the coil. 1999 FLSTF, 80 incher, S&S Super E. HI 4-E  ignition, ev27 cam, rivera taper lite pushrods....was wondering how to test the ohms and what they should be. Thanks for being there bro...........

Remove the coil and with a OHM meter chest the primary side of the coil. That would be the side where the wires connect. it should be 2.5-3.1 OHMs. Test the secondary side, where the spark plug wire go. it whould test at 10,000-12,500 OHMs. Your spark plug cable should be tested too. The short cable should test at 1125-2624 OHMs, long one should be 4750-11077 OHMs.
