Motorcycle Repair: Jumps but wont start, jumper cables, springer softail

So I have a battery question/problem.  After a couple of days without riding my 2004 Springer Softail it wouldn't start.  I jump started it and while the jumper cables were connected to the 'donor' vehicle it started fine.  However as soon as one of the cables was disconnected the bike immediately died.  I tried disconnecting the battery, cleaning connections, but still no go.  So is it the battery or alternator?  Any help would be great!?

First you need to know if your battery is any good. Have it tested. Once you have a good battery, start the bike and at the battery you sould be showing around 13.5 volts at 2000 RPM. If not, then youhave a charging problem
