Motorcycle Repair: Removing a battery for charging, suzuki vs800 intruder, loose cables

Question
I need to remove the battery on my Suzuki VS800 Intruder. My question is how the heck do you remove it? I can't even find it. I just bought this bike used and left the key on and now the battery is dead.

Thank you
Randy K

Answer
Randy,

Hope you can follow this for battery removal:

1. Place the bike on the sidestand.
2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the battery nega
tive (-) lead.
3. Remove the screw securing the
battery positive ( ) cable terminal protector, remove
the protector
4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the battery posi
tive ( ) lead
5. Remove one of the front lower bolts
securing the battery case floor in
place.
6. Either hold onto the battery case floor or place
wood block(s) under it to support the floor when the
other bolt is removed.
7. Remove the front lower bolt from the other side
of the case.
8. Lower the battery case floor and
slide the battery out of the case.
Remove the battery.

Make sure cables are tight when you replace the
battery, loose cables can cause weird running problems.
