Motorcycle Repair: 1965 CB77, cb77, restoration guides

Question
Hey Bill, I have a 1965 CB77 that runs ok. I am interested in having the engine/trans rebuilt. Who would you recommend for this job.

Answer
Greg, there aren't a lot of people who I know that are doing engine overhaul, other than Ed Moore in TX.
emo@ktc.com is his email address.

I was down to visit him, in TX during my mainland trip and we uncrated a motor that was on his "TO-DO" list for about a year. He's retired and does them at his leisure. I know he had about 8 more waiting, as of last month.

You might join the honda305 group on Yahoo and/or the VJMC list www.vjmc.org and see if there are others in your area who are experienced and wish to do that work. I have restoration guides, including engine repair information that has helped a lot of people do their own engine overhauls, in the past.

Maybe your bike just needs a really good tune-up and going over, instead of an overhaul. Depends on how many miles are on it, since it was last freshened up, though. If compression is low and it is leaking/smoking, then a tuneup won't help it much.
