Motorcycle Repair: 2001 honda rebel, honda rebel, basic tools

Question
My wife has a 2001 Honda Rebel with 2050 miles on it. We just purchased it. The neutral light is on all the time. It shifts fine. The previous owner bought this new, and said this problem began a year or so ago. I'm thinking maybe a switch adjustment or a bad switch. Does it sound like I'm on the right track? If so, where is the switch located, and do I need any special tools to get at it? Any other parts I will need at the same time? (gaskets, seals, orings etc) Thanks for any help you may have.

Answer
You are probably on the right track.
Neutral switch is under left rear engine cover,
little plastic thing with brass center.
Should be a wire hooked to it, they used to be
green/red color, not sure if they have changed
the color lately.
Should not be too hard to change if you have
some basic tools. Remove the wire first to
see if the neutral light goes out. If not, it may
be a grounded wire instead of the switch.
