Motorcycle Repair: headlight problem, kawasaki voyager, wiring schematics

Question
This is in regards to my 2000 Kawasaki Voyager XII. My headlight warning light is on. Low beam is dim like me with 4.5 volts and high beam dash light comes faintly. High beam seems okay with 12.7 volts and no dash light. I have tried 2 new bulbs, checked what wiring I could get at. I have replaced the headlight reversing switch with a new one. Still no luck. There is a diode in that area--might this diode be bad and causing the problem? I have a shop manual with wiring schematics and I am not sure how diode is connected to the lighting system, but I am sure it is because when I unplug the diode the headlight goes out. I am not sure why I am getting such low voltage on low beam especially after changing headlight reversing switch. Does anyone have any ideas how the headlight reversing switch functions. I have already checked all wiring that I can get at and have checked for good ground. Please can you help?

Answer
Roger,

I respect your comment.

"...I AM NOT RATING. THIS IS A COMMENT. I FEEL THAT THE QUESTION WAS NOT ADDRESSED. YOU GAVE ME INFO ABOUT SOMEONE ELSES QUESTION WITH TECH INFO THAT I ALREADY KNEW ABOUT."

You should understand that it is difficult to diagnose problems without being present and performing tests. I rely on narratives of the symptoms and problems to diagnose complex problems.

I did not answer the MC question. I provided a reference and resource that you may research and find the solution to the MC problem.

I copied and pasted the information from the tech resource to my reply for your convenience.

My question to you is...if you already knew about the voltage drops, why are you asking what's going on with it?

You don't have to answer that. I already know the answer.

Respectfully,
Mark Shively
