Motorcycle Repair: Honda CT90, honda ct90, coil ignition system

Question
I have just recently started working on a honda ct90 trail bike. Unlike my past experiences with ignitions systems this bike relies on battery power to produce its spark. I have removed the battery and hooked the appropriate ground and hot wires to a batter charger to see if i could obtain a spark, i could not produce one. Using my megear knowldge about japanese equipment i assume that so long their is voltage going to the correct part of the bike then i should at least produce a spark. and then i would be sure that all i needed to do was replace the battery. HOwever, i did not recieve spark when i did this. Their is a coil ignition system that could be my problem, but i want to make sure it is not a wiring problem before i go spend $80 on the coil. any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Answer
Trent,
save your money, it is probably the points under
the left top cover of the engine.
The points should just break open when the "F"
mark lines up with the pointer these being under the
other cover on the left side of the engine.
You made need to clean the points contacts with
some emery cloth or such. Make sure they are clean
and dry. You may have to replace them, depending
how bad they are. Then put a good battery in and try again.
You can use a multimeter to see when the points close
and open or a test light if the battery is connected
and key on.
