Motorcycle Repair: choke and speedometer, harley davidson sportster, harley davidson

Question
Hello,
I own a 2002 Harley-Davidson Sportster Hugger i just got it about 6 months ago and the speedometer and miles ran doesnt work any more. it stopped working about 2 weeks ago. we opened the speedometer and everything looked okay and we took off the seat and everything looked okay there too. what would be the cause of this problem?
Oh, and the choke isnt working to well. sometimes when i pull the choke out it gets sucked back in. and i have to hold it out for a minute or so, so it can warm up enough for me to ride. sometimes it works but most the time it just gets sucked back in. this as been a problem for about a month and a half but today it wasnt working at all. how can i fix this?
i havent done anything to the bike before these things started it just happened one day.

Answer
On the choke, look behind the choke knob. You will see a plastic ring. Tighten it a little with your fingers and the choke will stay. Dont over tighten it or you will break it.
As to the speedo, the only thing you can do is take the bike in and have a dianostic run on it to see what the problem is.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
