Motorcycle Repair: 76 CB200T Engine Idle, vacuum leaks, engine gaskets

Question
My 76 honda CB200T had it's Carbs rebuilt and engine gaskets replaced.  When I start the bike the engine runs ruff and the idle revs up and down, sometimes to redline and I have to shut the bike down. Also the bike idles up and down and stalls out making the bike unable to ride.  I cannot seem to adjust the idle for a smooth run and the problem continues to persist.  What can i do?  What may be the problem?  Should i replace the throttle cable?  Please help.

Answer
Hi Curtis,

Check the following:

1) Throttle cable routing- cables may be improperly routed or not seated completly in the carburetor cap.
2) Check for vacuum leaks around the carburetor and manifold.
3) Check carburetor synchronization.
4) Check ignition timing and ignition breaker points gaps.
