Motorcycle Repair: 94 FLHTC BATTERY PROBLEM, battery problem, time bill

Question
I have a 1994 FLHTC that has run fine with no problems in the past.  I kept the battery in the house on a tender for the winter.  Two days ago I went on a 50 mile ride and tried to start it about five minutes after shutting it down. When I pushed the start button it turned over at first (but not enough to start) then just the clicking noise.  I had the spotlights and radio on during the ride.  It sat in the garage for two days and yesterday it started right up.  I let it warm up then went to the gas station about two miles away and filled up.  When I tried starting it up the same thing happened as if the battery was worn down.  The only accessory on yesterday during the short ride was the headlight and radio. I now have the battery on a tender.  Is this an indication of battery trouble or is it possibly a charging problem.  It seems that after sitting for a couple of days the battery is strong enough to start it.  Thanks for you time,  Bill

Answer
First, check you battery to make sure you have a good one and it has water in it. Next, Start the bike and at the battery see how much voltage you have. You should be running about 13.5 volts at the battery at 2000 RPM. If not then you have a charging problem
Good luck and happy riding
