Motorcycle Repair: starter, softail custom, 28 years

just bought a 1993 softail custom, when bike gets hot it wont start. whats the easy way of removing the starter. last time i rode or worked on a bike was about 28 years a go. thanks for the help.

You first have to disconnect the batter. Remove the oil in the primary. remove the cover and then remove the jackshaft. Next remove the two bolts from the starter and the wire going to the starter and it should slide out.
