Motorcycle Repair: kawa ke100 late 70s model, gpz 750, kawasaki ke100

Question
i just got a late 70's model kawasaki ke100 from a client who had stored it
since 1984.  its got only about 800 miles on it, and it seems in excellent
condition - a little rusty on the chrome is all.  anyway, i used to ride a 1983
gpz 750, which i did minor repair on (rebuilt carb, electrical, etc.) - nothing
major though.  so... my question is : should I take this to a shop to get it
running again (and if so, do you recommend on in the oakland, berkeley area)
or is this thing simple enough that i could figure it out without too much
trouble. I'm ordering a manual for it online.  thanks, levi

Answer
when you get the manual you are on the right track. It shouldnt be too bad.Start with changing the oil and cleaning the carb.Inspect the air filter.Drain old gas out of tank and flush. It is rusted you can purchase a Kreem kit at your local dealer that will clean, seal and restore the inside of the tank.Replace the spark plug, tire pressure, lube cables and make sure brakes are working properly and you should be good to go......dan
