Motorcycle Repair: exhaust seals, circular seal, exhaust pipe

hi mike,you put your finger right on the problem i had with my  96'evo a loose front exhaust pipe,you explained to me that there was two seals that go into the manifold,when i went to my local dealer he gave me a circular seal made of a wire wool substance he assured me that this was suitable for my bike,after a lot of hassle getting it on to the end of the pipe i tightened it up,its a lot better but i think its still sucking a bit of air in,could you please tell me what the seals are made of so i know i am getting the right thing this time.with great regards markus..

The manifold I was refering to was the intake manifold. On your exhaust you have one gasket. The one you have is the right one. they are a paint o get in and make sure you tighten the exhaust pipe up evenly and you will be fine
