Motorcycle Repair: baffle removal, drag pipes, mr wells

Question
QUESTION:     Mr. Wells, I own a 2006 dyna wide glide, I had vance and hines big radius pipes put on it along with a jet kit and power commander and stage I air cleaner kit.  My question is if I remove the baffles will I damage my motorcyle in any way?
ANSWER: removing the baffles makes the bike run leaner and it also makes you lose power. what you are creating is drag pipes which work well at high RPMs but lose power at midrange.
Good luck and happy riding

QUESTION:      Mr. Wells, first of all thank you for your input.  I have one more question for you.  On my dyna I want to run a fatter tire on the front maybe a 120, 140 or 160.  Is this possible for someone to do for me without changing the my front end or will I have to pony up mad cash for a whole new set up?  What do you believe the fatest I could run up front without changing the front end?  What do you mean by midrange?  I apologize for my ignorance.

Answer
Your not going to be able to get that big of tire on the front end of your bike without doing some modafications. You would first have to get a bigger wheel to fit the bigger tire.
Midrange is in the power band. The powerband goes from lowend, midrange to high end. Low end would be from off idle to around 2000RPM. Midrange is 2000 RPM to around 35OO RPM and High end is above that. You normally ride in midrange.
Good luck and happy riding.
