Motorcycle Repair: 1988 Heritage Softail (FLSTC) Odometer Reset Knob, tiny screw, heritage softail

Question
Mike,
I can't seem to find a odometer reset knob anywhere without going back to a HD dealer. I have spoken with them and they tell me it is about $300 to fix. I don't just need the reset knob or the tiny screw that fits in the knob. I have both of those, and together they are too short. They don't reach the rod underneath the Speedometer. Is there something out there, there has to be. Also,is it something I can fix without taking half the bike apart? Thanks for your time and advice.

Answer
Check with any shop that sells V-Twin products. they have the knob you need. It should cost about 15.00. If you are just installing the knob you dont need to take anything apart. It should just slide in from the side.
You can also look at their catolog online. Go to www.vtwinmfg.com
Good luck and happy riding
