Motorcycle Repair: 2005 fxsti, oil drain plug, oil tank

Question
where`s the oil drain plug to drain the oil from the oil tank?
thanks

Answer
Under the right hand side at the rear of the transmission is a frame crossmember.  Countersunk into it is the drainplug.  It is a 5/8" hex plug with a 1/4" allen hole in the center.  Always run the motor for 3 or 4 minutes before draining it, to get all crankcase and camcover oil back into the tank.  Make sure the bike is standing straight up or slightly tilted to the right because the drain hose is on the right rear of the tank going down to the drain plug.  Clean the magnet and threads, and get most of the white teflon off that they cake on at the factory.  If the o-ring is flattened or frayed replace it.  Harley part #11105.  Don't over-tighten the plug.  Change the filter and use 3 quarts of Harley 20/50 to refill the tank.  Change oil every 2500 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.
