Motorcycle Repair: 2003 indian scout, 1400 miles, indian scout, lean condition

Ran it for the first time after winter and engine misses when I use throttle at lower rpm in any gear and keeps sputering almost like a backfire but I here it in the engine not exaust.  Could it be just a gas issue?

Mike what usually happens is you get a little crud in the carburetor bowl and because the idle jet is so small, stuff gets caught in it and causes a hesitation or spit back through the air filter from the lean condition.  You need to drop the carb bowl, clean it rinse it, run a .020" drill through the idle jet, or a small piece of wire, and put a new set of plugs in.
