Motorcycle Repair: 1999 Honda goldwing SE, honda goldwing, vacuum problem

Question
Mark: I am having problems with my Goldwing when accelerating in any of the gears. I have changed the fuel filter, plugs, air filter and even pulled the guts out of the fuel tank and cleaned the screen in the reservoir. The plugs looked good, no sign of misfiring or carbon buildup. The bike idles fine and at 70 mph cruises great. The problems is everything in between. When I go to accelerate it bogs down in any every gear. And if I stay in any gear to long it feels like someone is tugging on the back of the bike.I have a repair manual and one of the troubleshooting spots pointed to the engine control module. Any help would greatly be appreciated

Answer
Hi Don,

I suspect the carburetor mid-range is excessively rich.

If your GL was stored or not used often, it may be related to varnished fuel obstructing mid-range circuits, vacuum problem, or other air-fuel passageway obstructions.

I'll send a few tech files to your email addy.

Have a Blessed Easter!
