Motorcycle Repair: Battery keeps dieing, honda shadow spirit, honda shadow spirit 750

I have a 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit 750.  I ride for about 3 to 4 days and my battery starts to die, so I keep taking it out and having to charge it every week.  I thought it was maybe a bad battery, so I bought a new battery and the same thing happens.  Could you give me a little advise on what it could be, thanks.

Hi Rob,

The usual cause is a defective charging system. A few tests with a multimeter will reveal the cause.

Testing is simple. I encourage you and recommend that you get a copy of the service manual and a multimeter and perform the tests. Otherwise, have a local shop diagnose the problem for you.
