Motorcycle Repair: engine problem, exhaust gasket, rear cylinder

Question
i have a 1983 sportster there is air leaking out around the exhaust on the front cylinder where it comes out, the rear cylinder is overheating to the point where the exhaust pipe glows red then the engine cuts out I'm not sure why can you help me?

Answer
First, remove the front exhaust and install a new exhaust gasket in the head. Also, check the intake for leaks. Spray a little carb cleaner around the intake with the bike running. If the RPMs go up then you have a leak
