Motorcycle Repair: Throttle cable, throttle grip, itsself

Question
HI Mike. I had a throttle cable bust today. I would like to repair it myself and was wondering if you could guide me through the process. I have an 03 FLHRCI. I have looked online but cant find the part number. Do you happen to know which one I need? Thanks, Jesse

Answer
your part number should be 56376-02. To install you first need to look and see how the cable is routed so you can copy where is going. Look at the cables and you will see adjusters close to the throttle grip. Loosen them or turn them inward so you have slack in the cable. Slide the old cable out from its routing. Now remove the two screws from around the grip and open it. You will see the cable attached to the throttle grip by a brass gromet around the cable. Remove it. The cable itsself is pressed into the bottom of the piece that goes around the grip. You will have to pry it out. When you get he new cable, make sure you get a new c-clip that gess around it. Press the cable in and reattach to the grip, and put the cover back on. Looking at the throttle body, pu the cable through and attach. Now go back to the adjusters and tighten, or lengthen them, just until they have just a slight amount of play in them.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
