Motorcycle Repair: brakes, silicone brake fluid, replacing brake pads

Question
asked question earlier today. forgot to mention I own a 2002 H-D road king, regading replacing brake pads and draining and replacing brake fluid.

Answer
Leave the brake fluid alone.  Remove the two brake pad pins from the outside of each caliper with a 1/4" 12-point socket.  Pry the pads and pistons back into the caliper with a thin flat tool.  Notice how they are directional and there is an inside and outside pad.  Just replace them and replace the pins.  Fluid will be pushed back into master cylinders.  Dot 5 silicone brake fluid requires very little if any maintainance.  Check pads every 2500 miles.  Remember, the inside pad that you can't see always wears more quickly than the outside pad.  Don't forget to pump your brakes after you're done to get the pistons back to where they should be.
