Motorcycle Repair: rebuilding carbs, cm400t honda, air passages

Question
Do you have a book or cd on rebuilding carbs from a 1981 cm400t honda. Im fairly handy but need some guidence.

Answer
Roland, I don't have much to do with the CB/CM400-450 twins, but it isn't brain surgery. Only a Honda shop manual or aftermarket book will show much about them.

Not sure of the specs, though as my little Honda tune-up guide only goes to 1980, but all the float levels are 15.5mm and slow jets are #38. Get a full packing kit so you can replace all the little o-rings and seals/gaskets inside. Bikebandit.com has online microfiche illustrations of where things are and some of the calibrations, perhaps.

Just lay the parts out on a papertowel or something, as you disassemble them. Don't mix parts from one side to the other. Clean all air passages and fuel passages, plus any and all little emulsion tubes that have cross drilled holes in the ends. Check any diaphragms for holes/tears and be sure all jets are squeaky clean. You can usually eyeball the synchronization of the butterflies close enough to get it going, but then have a shop get the final adjustment on them, when the bike is up and running.
