Motorcycle Repair: cl175 honda scrambler,exhaust removal, honda scrambler, side pipe

I have a 72 cl175,and cannot get the exhaust off,everything is un bolted but it will not come all the way out of the heads,is there a secret to this? the starter doesnt engage right and removing it and the side casing needs the exhaust out of the way.

Rick, wait until you have to put them back on again!!!! I wrestled a set for about 20 minute before I could get all the exhaust keepers and collars back on. Loosen the exhaust pipe that is clamped into the other side pipe muffler. You may have to shoot some penetrating oil down in the packing joint to allow the pipe to rotate or to be removed altogether from the muffler. Best to have four hands on board for both tasks, if possible...
