Motorcycle Repair: Aspencade Headlamp Replacement/rear brake light, headlight bulbs, aspencade

Question
How Do I get at the headlight to replace one of the bulbs on my 1996 Aspencade?  AND a follow up question to one you already answered: Since my brake light should come on when the front brake is applied but doesn't, where would I look first for what is causing the problem?  Thanks!!

Answer
Hi John,

It's been awhile since I've accessed the headlight bulbs. I think on your model the bulbs are accessed via removing the HL housing from the front. Remove the chrome trim, side lights and turn lens. You should see the screw fasteners for the HL assy.

Ref the brake light problem... check the front brake light switch. It's part of the brake lever assy.

The switch may be corroded or otherwise defective. There may be a open short (broken wire/disconnected connector) somewhere in the circuit.
