Motorcycle Repair: Slipping Clutch, wild hog movie, stock clutch

Question
Hello Mark,
Have a 2000, VS1400, Suzuki Intruder. The stock clutch slipped a little, over the winter of 2004-05 I installed. V&H's pipes, K&N air Filter's and a Dynojet Stage II jet kit. And (Dealer)installed a "KG" clutch pack. And a big NO-NO, didn't install new springs, which I didn't know was a must do. Anyway still slipped, only a little more-so. Winter 05-06 had the machine Dyno-tuned. Now clutch slippage is BAD!! Be cruising, crack it open, and a whole lot of RPM, but not much else. I mic'd the stock clutch pack that was replaced and they are well with-in service limits almost with-in the "New" specs. listed.

In a past question about clutches you mentioned using a thicker "fiber" plate. Any suggestion as to this thickness?? and how about a heavier set of springs?
Next step, I plan to re-install the factory clutch package. and do something w/ either a thicker fiber plate or springs or both. Do a super job of flushing/bleeding  the system as another thing is I have a concern about. Is zero/zip freeplay on the clutch lever. You even think about relaxing your grip and stuff starts happening. Dealer (same one who did the above mentioned clutch honors)said it was the natural of the beast and can't do much about it.
Thanking you in advance for any help/tips you can offer.
AS Peter Fonda say's in the closing minutes of the Wild Hog movie. "Ride hard or Stay home"

Answer
Hi Kevin,

The Intruder clutch is a common problem. Common fixes are shimming the springs or replaing the springs. Hold off on buying another set of plates.

Barnett may have thicker friction plates. Contact them and inquire about the thickness.

I'd like to see images of your Intruder. I'm sure it's a sharp MC.
