Motorcycle Repair: 2002 sportster heads/cams, head gasket, big bore kit

Question
Hello, i am in the process of intalling a big bore kit in my 2002 883 sportster.I am using flat top pistons with a standard james head gasket,45/180 jets ,the kit included a template kit to dremmel out the stock 883 heads to 60cc,{they are currently 49cc}. this is supposed to result in a 9.9:1 compression.the question is can i leave the heads at 49cc to increase the compression to what i think would be 11.4:1 compression, would there be any issues?did i calculate it right?also what would be the best choice of cams? andrews n4 or n6  mabey?i will not be racing or anything but want a good boost on a budget, thanks for any advice you can give. steve

Answer
The N4 cams would be a great choice for you bike. I would go ahead and cut the heads. If you leave them stock you will be running to much compression for gas right out of the pump. You will get spark knock, which is bad.
Good luck and happy riding
