Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki VL 125 Intruder Choke Cable Seized, suzuki vl 125, exact route

Question
Hi,

The choke cable on my 2001 Suzuki VL 125 Intruder has seized.  I have just bought a new cable.  The breakdown service showed me how to remove it from the handlebar end.  how do I remove the entire cable?

Answer
Hi Lucinda,

Before you begin removal of the old cable, trace the routing of the cable. Remember the exact route the old cable took. Take digital images if it helps.

Disconnect the cable at both ends. I usually start at the carburetor end depending upon how the cable connects at that end.

With both ends disconnected, pull the old cable through the frame. It may help to snake the new cable in place by taping it to an end of the old cable.

Once installed adjust the cable to obtain maximum choke extension when cable is pulled fullly.
