Motorcycle Repair: 1975 shovelhead adjusting screw, clutch adjustment, proper distance

Question
I have just put new clutches in, And for some reason I keep having to replace the release bearing, adjusting screw and the rod,  because it keeps chewing up the adjusting screw up and the end of the rod.  When I press clutch lever in I can hear it grinding the bearing, screw and rod up..

Thanks
Nicky

Answer
Hi Nicky, Have you checked your spring protrusion(tension) to much tension on the plates will create to much pressure for that release bearing. Also make sure your clutch adjustment is correct and the release arm is the proper distance from the trans tower.
