Motorcycle Repair: 1999 Honda 400ex Carb, honda 400ex, altitude difference

Question
Hey Mark,

I moved to different state and my Quad wont stay running i would imagine that the altitude difference would be the problem, i don't know how to adjust it to keep it running. When i start it the only way it will stay running is if i keep my hand on the throttle and it backfires when i try to keep it close to idle.

your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Travis

Answer
Hi Travis,

Altitude affects air-fuel mixtures in the carburetor. Simple tuning can correct the problem.
