Motorcycle Repair: 1977 Honda XL350, personal knowledge base, antique bikes

Question
I have a project of rebuilding this bike.  I can not figure how to remove the centrifical oil filter on the clutch side of the motor.  Any help or suggestions.  It has a spring ring, but nothing comes loose when I remove it.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Hi Harry.

To be honest, that one is a bit out of my personal knowledge base, but it sounds as if you are doing this without a repair manual.

You should be able to order the factory manual (the one I most highly recommend) through any Honda motorcycle dealership.  If not through them, then any decent motorcycle shop should be able to get one for you.

In lieu of that, here are a couple of places online to get one;

www.repairmanuals.com

www.jcwhitney.com

They both tend to be very good sources for manuals for antique bikes like yours.

Sorry that I cannot help further.
Good luck and ride safe.
