Dear Christopher, my bike backfires occasionaly, runs hot with a dead spot, i replaced carby no difference Thanks

Hi Russel.

 I seriously doubt that the carb was ever related to the problem here.

 I would start with the ignition system and make sure that everything in it has no wiring faults, good clean connections,  and all components are within spec.
 Then check the valve gap and timing.
 Last, check the ignition timing.

Start with that and see what happens.
