Motorcycle Repair: 91 honda xr80r, new spark, spark plug

I just aquired a 91 honda xr80r that has been sitting for about 5 years. Running when it was put away. I put in a new spark plug but have no spark?? It sparks every once in awhile??

Hi Bill.

Start by checking the wiring for shorts.  The bike has been sitting and the wiring can dry out and become brittle.

Then check all of the components in the ignition system to make sure that they are still within specs.

Start with that and see what you find.
