Motorcycle Repair: turn signal module location, rear fender, scanalyzer

Question
Hello Roy
I have a 1999 roadking classic EFI. I need to find the turn signal module. My book -clymer-says it is under the seat in the battery compartment, it is not there. I traced the wires coming out of the rear fender around going under the fuel tank. Would you know where harley may have put the module.
Thanks for any information.

Answer
Your 1999 FLHRCI is the first year of the twin-cam but has older style EFI.  I always forget what year they changed location of the module but when you pick up the seat it's obvious.  On the right rear of the battery is a silver clip holding in the module which is black and drops down into a slot under the clip.  Lift it out and unplug it.  If I'm wrong about the year then it's bolted to the frame backbone at the rear of the gas tank and it's a flat rectangular grey box mounted on a stud coming up through its center.  Why are you messing with it?  It is called a TSM.  If you have factory security system it's called a TSSM and incorporates both turn signal functions and security system.  If you replace a TSSM you have to reinstall the password (which is the # on the TSSM) using the HD scanalyzer.  Most turn signal problems are caused by bad bulbs, bad grounds, or a pinched hot wire although I have had to replace some TSM's.  Good Luck and let me know if you still can't find the module.  By the way a new TSM is about $125 and a TSSM is $275.
