Motorcycle Repair: 1991 300 trx 4x4 making a whine, library visit, comeing

I just purchased this 4 wheeler yesterday and when it is ideling there is a whine comeing from where the transfer case is. The previous owner has had it since it was new and he informed me that it has made that noise since it was bought. Is there some way to check the oil or should I take in to the shop.

Hi Don,

The best advice I can offer and the best investment you can make with your ATV is to get a copy of the service (repair) manual.

The service manual has specifications and illustrated maintenance and repair procedures. The manual will pay for itself with the first work you perform.

Performing maintenance and most repairs are easily done at home without special tools.

Many public libraries offer service manuals. Check your local library.
