Motorcycle Repair: handlebar grips, flat blade, screw driver

Question
how do I remove the handlebar grips to be used again on the new handle bars.

Answer
You only need to remove the left grip obviously.  Take  a long thin tool like a flat blade screw driver and pry the open edge of the grip enough to spray in some Brakeclean (or any brand of "brake parts cleaner").  Then twist the grip at that open end.  When it starts to break loose squirt some more brake cleaner in and work the screwdriver gently in a little farther.  Once the brake parts cleaner gets down into the grip it will free up quickly when you twist it.   DO NOT USE CARBURETOR CLEANER!!!  That is too caustic and eats certain plastics, paint, etc.
