Motorcycle Repair: New tombstone tail light & signals, brain farts, jumper wires

Question
I bough new lights for my 2000 dyna super glyde. The old lights(front) had 3 wires-Violet,black,blue and the new signals have 1 black wire. On the tail light there are 6 wires comming out of the harness- black, violet, brown, blue, orange/white, red/yellow. My new lights have 2 wires for each bulb- red, black. The manual says the black wire goes to all three bulbs in the old light assembly. The blue wire says running lights and the red/yellow wire is for the brakes. Brown is right signal and the violet is left. Orange/white goes to nothing on domestic bikes(?). I either get all the lights blinking when I turn on a signal or only one side will blink and no brake light at all. The tombstone has a good ground, but still no brake light. I know it must be simple but I have a major case of the brain farts and just need to get back in the wind. Which wires go where?

Answer
What you need to do is go back and start over. SInce your new front turn signal has one wire ther is no running light in it. The one wire is for power and the housing is the ground.
On the rear, it sounds like you have a turn signal wire and the brake wire backwards.
remove the wires you installed. At the junction, unpluggged, use a test light to make sure which wire is the brake light by pressing hte brake. Now using a couple jumper wires from the battery, check to make sure you have the right wire for the brake. Keep on doing this for esch wire and you should haev it
Merry christmas
