Motorcycle Repair: shovelhead clutch bangs into gear, friction discs, stock clutch

Question
I had previous questions about my 1981 FLT banging into gear - launching me from stops.  The theory was my friction discs were worn or glazed and probably sticking together.  While replacing my friction and steels I noticed the drive hub studs are worn.  They look like candy canes.  I guess the old plates were hanging up on these recesses or valleys in the studs.  The old steel plates did not have the anti-rattle balls and maybe that contributed.
Now I want to replace the studs but question how to get them out.  Some of them turn now - is that right?  They must have nuts on the back but how do you get to them?  Is it possible to get the studs out without pulling the entire clutch hub and disconnecting the primary chain?
Lastly, the rollers in the hub were awful rusty.  Should I grease them up and if so what type of gook do you recommend.
Thanks for your time and answers.

Answer
If your studs are that worn, its time to replace them. If youhave a stock clutch they should just turn out. You might have to heat them up since they have been in there a long time. You need to take the hub out os its easier to work on it.
Clean the rollers and regrease them with a coat of general purpose grease.
Merry Christmas
