Motorcycle Repair: throttle cable, throttle cable, happy medium

Question
My son has a Yamaha 4stroke 125 dirtbike.  Once the bike is started if you turn handlebars to the right it raves up the engine.  To the left idles the engine to a stop.  I have found no happy medium to this.  I have replaced the throttle cable and the same thing happens.  I have undone all secure points, moved to different secure points of the cable and the same thing happens. What gives?? How do I correct this problem?

Answer
Hi Terry.

When this happpens, it is almost always because the cable is routed wrong.  Many folks just don't realise that the cable routing is as critical as having the right cable.

Try rerouting the cable differently and see what happens.

Good luck and ride safe.
