Motorcycle Repair: 82 Seca 750 - Battery warning, reputable shop, hi doug

Question
My old Seca has almost always indicated BATT on the warning panel and the warning light flashes until I cancel it.  A meter on the system tells me that I've got a strong 13+ volts in the charging system and I'm not killing my battery.  I've got the sensor lead plugged into the battery (I've made certain it is in the correct cell.) I'm convinced that there's nothing wrong with the charging system but I need to communicate this to the bike's computer.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!
Doug

Answer
Hi Doug.

There are a couple of possibilities here.  The first and most likely would be that there is a short in the wiring either to the computer from the sensor or there is a hot short to the light.  The second is the possibility of a failure of your bike's computer.

If it is the latter, then it could be indicative of some future problems down the road.  If you cannot find a hot short or other wiring problems, then get it in to a reputable shop and have them look at it.

Good luck and ride safe.
