Motorcycle Repair: carb sync connection problem, suzuki bandit 1200s, vacuum ports

Question
Hi Mark. I am trying to check the carb synchronisation of my '02 Suzuki Bandit 1200S, but I cannot for the life of me see how the synchroniser tubes can be connected to carbs 2,3 & 4 as the horizontal choke rail is directly above and only millimetres away from the vacuum ports, not only stopping the removal of the rubber caps but also the connection of the sync tubes to the ports. It amazes me that Suzuki have put these ports in such an inaccessibe position. They are so difficult to get to that I even doubt my mechanic can reach them properly, which is exactly why I think the carbs need a proper check for synchronisation.! What can I do?

Answer
Hi Rob,

The design is not appreciated and it's much work to synchronize those carburetors.

The carburetors can be loosened at the intake manifolds and rocked or pulled backwards a bit to allow access to the vacuum ports. Push them back in after connecting. Check for pinched synchronizer hoses.
