Motorcycle Repair: 1996 suzuki rf 900 1st gear noise, suzuki rf 900, volunteer basis

Question
when I down shift to first I hear a noise which I could only describe as "clunk".Ive noticed if I hold the clutch in longer noise isnt as bad, seems that the engine rpm plays into this problem.if I downshift to 1st and the bike is completly stopped it will slide into first with no issues.any advice? thanks

Answer
take the bike for a ride  ride it slow shifting and then down shifting not over about 2omph if you dont hear any noise when you shift. stop and take off again ride it about 50 mph then when you start downshifting if you hear a noise it could possibly be a syncronizer in the tranny or a bent shif fork .but since the roms take into accoun i would want to believe its a syncronizer cause when you hold the clutch in longer you are slowing the ngine down more to shift . and when you dont hold it in it makes the noise because the syncro want slip into gear that easy cause of the engine's rpm .try this and let me know ok.
p.s please leave feedback for me  we do this on a volunteer basis but like feedback ok
