The starter cranks, but engine start but will shut after a few seconds.  I check the spark and there is no spark in the spark plug. but once I try it again. the engine will run for abuut 3 to 10 seconds and will shu off. do you have any suggestions.  Thank you

Answer
Hi Hector,

It's difficult to accurately diagnose the problem without performing a few checks. It may be a defective CDI or something as simple as a loose connector.

Check all electrical connectors for evidence of water, dirt, corrosion, loose connections, ect...

Apply dielectric grease to connectors to help prevent water shorting and corrosion.

Check the crankcase for water. Engine oil will appear milky brown if water is present. Check airbox for water, dirt, etc... Clean accordingly and re-try starting.

Respectfully,
