Motorcycle Repair: 1991 FLHTP, heavy maintenance, bendix

Question
The bike starting making a noise I've never heard and find hard to describe. It sounds almost like the starter bendix is turning when acclerating or backing off the throttle. But the noise seems to be from the lower front of the motor.Started slightly at about 3500 rpm. 5 miles later it was louder and more frequent(in gear and in nuetral).
The bike was allegedly to have the motor and tranny rebuilt approx 10,000 miles ago. No mods or heavy maintenance has been done recently.
Hope you can help!
Thanks,

Answer
If your noise is coming from the bottom end of the bike you might be having a rod going out. What you need to do is start the bike and get down at the motor and listen closly all over the motor to tell where is coming from.
If you located it then you need to start tearing down the parts in the area and do a inspection to determine what is the problem
Good luck and happy riding
