Motorcycle Repair: 1550 Big Bore, 44g, screamin eagle

Question
I am going to have the 1550 big bore done on my 05 FXDLI over this winter.  My dealer recommends using the stock heads over the 1550 jugs and also using 257 cams.  The pistons he is recommending are HD part # 22868-00.  I already have a race tuner for the bike and am running Screamin eagle slip ons with a stage 1 kit on the breather.  I do not want to loose the reliability and driveability with this modification.  Is this too much cam for the setup and do you feel that the stock heads are adequate?  If you dont like this cam what would you recommend?  I am looking for an increase in power and torque across the entire rpm range, not just higher rpm.  He feels he can get close to 100 hp with this setup.  Is that realistic?

Answer
Personally, I would go with the gear driven cams. They do make a little more noise, but you are getting away from the chain and the rub blocks that can fail or need replaced over time. I would go with the Andrews 44G. As to reliability, you will be fine with your modifications
Good luck and happy riding
